Compass Mark

Connecting a Community

Challenge

Compass Mark is Lancaster County’s leading non-profit provider of services to prevent addictions by building healthy, skill-filled individuals. Its nationally recognized and innovative programming continually gets results in improved school attendance, social behavior, academic performance, workplace conduct and community engagement. The non-profit was planning an inaugural event, the Riddle Quest Event, and was interested in using digital signage software to manage the question and answer portion of the event.

Solution

ConnectedSign was able to assist Compass Mark in setting up digital signage the way it needed to work for the event. They used a combination of digital screens and smartphones to make it possible for players and score keepers to quickly log answers and keep track of who was winning.

Results

This digital sign debuted at Compass Mark’s inaugural Riddle Quest Event. The score keepers were able to use smart phones to update statistics and photos as they went around the city. The data was transferred back to Google Docs and updated scores. The pictures were added by taking a picture and saving it into the public folder using Dropbox. The key was that it had to use processes that people were already familiar with and could get for free on their phones. "The hardest part was getting the scores entered fast enough. Teams were answering riddles like crazy" said Zach Kolodziejski, the Lead Interface Designer at ConnectedSign. The event, and the digital signage project, were both rousing successes.
