Interactive Kiosks, Digital Directories & Wayfinding

Our Origin Story

Before touchscreens were everywhere, we were building them by hand.

ConnectedSign’s story began in 1993, when two founders working from a small house saw an emerging need for more interactive technology. Their answer was InfoStation, an early self-service information kiosk.

Because commercial touchscreen displays were not readily available, they built their own, disassembling CRT monitors, adding touch-sensitive grids, and programming every interaction line by line.

The first InfoStations appeared at major trade shows, including NAB Show and PACK EXPO. Attendees could access product literature, watch video tours, and request assistance from nearby staff. Large displays running looping presentations introduced the kiosks, an early example of what would become digital signage.

The way people interact with screens has changed dramatically since then. Those first interfaces were designed for a generation taught, “Don’t touch the television.” Today, people expect nearly every screen to respond.

What began as a hands-on experiment has grown alongside a global transformation in digital communication. The technology has evolved, but our purpose remains the same: creating intuitive experiences that connect people with the information, content, and assistance they need.
