The capabilities of Digital Signage are far and wide, but not many people know they can take it outdoors. This added feature creates opportunities for more Digital Signage locations. Digital Signage technology is constantly evolving allowing screens to be just about everywhere. An outdoor touchscreen is next!
A great example of an outdoor signage site is a ski resort because there is a constant need to broadcast information and emergency messages. If one of the trails is icy or if someone has had an accident fellow patrons can be alerted. Think about how many brochures one ski resort would save if at the end of the lift, a digital sign displayed all of the trails.
Not only can outdoor displays act as informative tools, but they can also be promotional hubs. If I got to the top of that mountain and a bright screen featured the coffee joint at the bottom of the trails with a hot cocoa special, I would be sold. Digital signs are a great way to promote your location from within- or in this circumstance, from outside.
Watch out bus stops, airport terminals, amusement parks, golf courses, etc. Digital Signage is taking the outdoor arena by storm.
Note: To support outdoor Digital Signage applications in low temperatures, the screens must be housed in LCD enclosures.
