In 1993, before you could purchase integrated touchscreens, the founders of ConnectedSign started a little studio that created high-end 3D content and custom-coded programming for touchscreen kiosks. We had to pull the bezels off CRT monitors, place special grids over the glass, and then reassemble - just to convert them into touchscreens. It sounds elementary, but at the time our process was cutting-edge.
One of our early successes — at a time when our biggest customers were companies like Sony, Toro, Philips, and Sunoco — was a little kiosk called the InfoStation. We would take these kiosks to some of the largest industry trade shows like NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) and PackEXPO. Attendees could scan their badges and then choose to watch videos, take surveys, or order printed materials. Behind the scenes, our system would capture the badge data and allow us to fulfill the attendees' requests before they even returned to their offices. We would also have another large monitor near the kiosk advertising the functions of the InfoStation — early digital signage! It was an exciting time for our company.
Today — 20 years later — creating digital signage solutions for our clients remains the core of ConnectedSign's business, but the interactive element is still strong and growing stronger every year as hardware prices drop and the technology becomes more affordable. As a proven leader in the digital signage industry, our mission is to continue to understand our clients' business goals and create unique digital signage solutions to help them accomplish those goals.
